Dean’s Discoveries: Jump Starting Leadership in Middle School
In just six short days since the start of school, students have oriented themselves to their routines are ready to get back to work. I was pleased to see the large number of Middle School students participating on athletic teams this fall, and I spoke with most of them last Wednesday about their responsibilities as Ravenscroft student-athletes. Athletics and arts are fabulous outlets for Middle School students to expand their education. I look forward to watching them grow with you outside of the classrooms this year.
On Tuesday I could not help but smile as I watched our sixth graders outside my office window learn to work with each other in advisories and better understand the importance of leadership skills. Our partnership with the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL) continues to complement the work we are doing here in the Middle School to help our young students grow into leaders and thrive and a complex and interdependent world.
Our eighth-grade students are looking forward to exercising leadership in their own way as they embark on a fantastic team-building and educational adventure in Maryland and Washington, D.C. during the second week in September. I look forward to sharing some of the highlights and memorable moments from the trip in a few weeks.
We are off and running here in the Middle School and I plan to use this blog to keep you updated on many of the interesting happenings in Middle School. Your thoughtful feedback and comments are welcomed.
Best wishes for a safe and enjoyable Labor Day weekend.
See you soon,
