Mr. Brown’s Advisory at Note in the Pocket during Service Learning.

From January 4-15, the Ravenscroft community will be participating in JEANuary, a jean and clothing drive sponsored by the Middle School Student Leadership Council. Collection boxes will be located outside of the Middle and Upper School offices and donated items will be delivered to Note in the Pocket on Friday, January 15 as part of the Middle School’s MLK Day of Service.

To kick-off the event, middle school students will hear from Note in the Pocket’s Executive Director Dallas Bonavita during community time on January 4. During her presentation, Ms. Bonavita will share information about the organization and the impact that donating new and gently used clothing has on students in Wake County.

The Middle School has partnered with Note in the Pocket for three years as part of our service learning program. During their monthly service learning opportunities, Ravenscroft students participate in sorting and organizing donated items that will later be provided for children in Wake County “who are identified by various schools and social service agencies in the community as impoverished or homeless and needing clothing to wear to school.”
