Dear 8th Grade Families,

March Madness is in full swing, and our advisories are enjoying a friendly bracket competition for both the Women’s NCAA tournament and the Men’s. As of this morning, Mrs. Ewing and Mr. Hutchings’ advisories are tied for first place with their Men’s brackets, and Mr. Hutchings’ advisory maintains a slight lead with their Women’s bracket!

Students are also busy preparing for the Ravens in Action Forum, which will take place next Friday, March 30. You all are invited to attend the Forum; it will begin at 10:00am in the PA Room. In preparation for this event, students should be completing their service projects, creating their visuals, and editing their December speeches to reflect their service. We have spent some recent advisory time helping students understand the expectations. This is a much more “conversational” presentation than the December speeches, and we invite you to ask the students questions as you stop by each “booth”. There is a reception immediately following the Forum from 11:30-12:00 in the Middle School. 8th graders are allowed to leave at 12:00 that day.

If your child will be absent on Friday, March 30, the make-up day for the Forum will be Thursday, April 5 from 8:00-8:55am.

Davis Anderson ’22 won this year’s Ravenscroft Middle School Geography Bee! Jackson Gring ’23 was the School’s runner-up.

Our very own Davis Anderson has qualified to compete in the state level competition of the National Geographic Bee! The Bee will take place on Friday, April 6 at Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte. We are rooting for you, Davis!

The next 8th grade pizza lunch and dress down day will take place on Thursday, April 19. Parents are invited to participate by supplying fruit, veggies, and dessert, and/or by helping to set up, serve, and clean up. Please see the Sign Up Genius for volunteer options. The school supplies the following types of pizza: cheese, pepperoni, gluten free, and non-dairy/vegan. If your child has an allergy or dietary restriction that requires a different accommodation, please notify Michelle O’Donnell or Julie McGinnis.
