Raving Ravens – Holiday Music – NEW Music!

Enjoy practicing the Raving Ravens Holiday Music 😀

Let’s Take A Sleigh Ride!

With cold down to our toes, we ride along, as winter winds nip and blow.

We are on our way, singing as we go, over fields of glist’ning snow.

Two horses pull the sleigh, a dapple and gray, their bridle bells jingle away,

As we slide and glide and whisk along the way on a happy December day.

We’re whooshing up and down the icy hills, a wonderland of frozen delight.

Our hands and feet now numb from the bitter chill, we’ll warm by the fire tonight.

With cold down to our toes we ride along, as winter winds nip and blow.

We are on our way, singing as we go, over fields of glist’ning snow.

Two horses pull the sleigh, a dapple and gray, their bridle bells jingle away,

As we slide and glide and whisk along the way on a happy December day.

On a happy December day!

All On A Silent Night

On a silent, holy night, a bright, shining star will lend heaven’s light.

Voices of angels joyfully sing a sweet alleluia to the King;

All on this silent, holy night, all on this silent night.

Silent night, holy night, all is calm, all is bright

Round yon virgin Mother and Child, Holy Infant so tender and mild,

Sleep in heavenly peace, sleep in heavenly peace.

Festival of Lights

O, Hanukkah, O, Hanukkah, we’ll light the menorah;
we’ll celebrate the season by dancing the horah!
Happiness and joy on this holiday.
Ev’ry day for eight days children will play!
And while we are playing, the candles of Hanukkah glow!

Shining so brightly, reminding us nightly
of wonders of days long ago.
Shining so brightly, reminding us nightly
of wonders of days long ago

O, Hanukkah, O, Hanukkah, we’ll light the menorah;
we’ll celebrate the season by dancing the horah!
Happiness and joy on this holiday.
Ev’ry day for eight days children will play!
And while we are playing, the candles of Hanukkah glow!

Shining so brightly, reminding us nightly
of wonders of days long ago.
Shining so brightly, reminding us nightly
of wonders of days long ago.

O, Hanukkah, O, Hanukkah, the Festival of Lights.

If I Were A Reindeer

If I were a reindeer, where would I be?
Livin’ at the North Pole, nat’rally.
If I were a reindeer, what would I do?
I’d fly fly fly with Santa, it’s true!

bridge:
Antlers on top. Pullin’ a sleigh.
Ready to fly night or day.
Oh, if I were a reindeer, I’d be flyin’ your way!
If I were a reindeer, what would I see?
Lots of other reindeer, nat’rally.

If I were a reindeer, when would I fly?
I’d fly fly fly with Santa, oh my!

repeat bridge twice

If I were a reindeer, I’d be flyin’ your way.
If I were a reindeer, I’d be flyin’ your way.
I’d be flyin’ your way!
Oh, yeah!

Music Changes the World

Ooh________________________________

Ooh________________________________

There must be a way to change the world

To join our hearts and find the hope;

There must be a way that we can see

The simple truth:

Music changes the world.

There must be a way that we can sing

And show the world what we can be;

There must be a way that we can see

The simple truth

Music changes the world

If we want to change, we will have to learn

We can overcome one by one;

Lift each other up and we can believe

In a world that can be.

There must be a way to change the world

To join our hearts and find the hope;

There must be a way that we can see

The simple truth:

Music changes the world.

There must be a way to change the world

To join our hearts and find the hope;

There must be a way that we can see

The simple truth:

Music changes the world.

There must be a way that we can learn

to join our hands and stand as one;

There must be a way that we can see

The simple truth

We know is there and as we sing music changes the world

There must be a way to change the world.

3rd Grade – New Year!

Hello!  Welcome back to school and the general music classroom!  We have jumped right in with music and have started learning many songs in the music classroom.  We have been actively working on keeping the steady beat of the music and how the steady beat is the heart of the music.  We also have been working on reading rhythms with our rhythm syllables that go along with our note reading and playing instruments to our rhythms.  We have been working on identifying the form of music, specifically ABA form, also known as ternary form.

An example of our first run through with instruments can be found below if you click the link.

IMG_0751-2m74ybf

(Mr. Hoover’s class kept a steady beat with the egg shakers and they could play any two notes on the xylophones/metallophones.)

In preparations for our first singing opportunity in front of an audience, we have started working on the Army Song for our Veteran’s Day Program.

We are excited to invite you to our Veteran’s Day Program on the 9th of November at 8:15am in the Lower School Gym.

I have provided the words below for the Army and the music with singing and the accompaniment for practicing at home. Please let me know if you have any questions!  Thanks!

Army Song

Over hill
Over dale
We will hit the dusty trail
And those caissons go rolling along
In and out
Hear them shout
Countermarch
And right about
And those caissons go rolling along
Then it’s Hi! Hi! Hee!
In the field artillery
Sound off your numbers
Loud and strong
For where’er you go
You will always know
That the caissons are rolling along

For The Good Of The Many

For our homeland, for our country,
for all you had to do.
For the freedom you defended,
we will remember you.

For the good of the many,
so give the few.
For the good of the many,
so give the few.

For your courage, for your honor,
for all we asked of you.
For the people, for the nation,
your sacrifice was true.

For the good of the many,
so give the few.
For the good of the many,
so give the few.
The few.

The Air Force

Off we go into the wild blue yonder,

Climbing high into the sun.

Here they come zooming to meet our thunder

At ’em boys, Give ‘er the gun!

Down we dive, spouting our flame from under

Off with one terrible course!

We live in fame or go down in flame.

Hey! Nothing can stop the U.S. Air Force!

You will find music in parts, all together, and the accompaniment.

Song of the River

Can you hear the song of the river, the voice of the gentle stream?
It sings as it spills and slumbers, then it flows swift and sure to the sea.
My song is like the river, growing stronger as years flow by.
And time makes bother more lovely, the river’s song and mine.
Can you hear the song of the river, singing on when the storm clouds roll?
Though wind and rain pass over stronger still, the river flows.
My song is like the river running sure under stormy skies.
And the rain makes both more lovely, the river’s song and mine.
(Descant) –
Come here the river when storm clouds roll,
though rains pass over, still, the river flows.
Both grow more lovely, the river’s song and mine.
Both grow more lovely, the river’s song and mine.
My song is like the river running sure under stormy skies.
And the rain makes moth more lovely the river’s song and mine.
The rain makes both more lovely, the river’s song and mine.
