Santa Is My Buddy

I’ve been very good this year,
pleasant, helpful and sincere.
Cleaned my room and washed the car.
Stayed out of the cookie jar.

Did my homework ev’ry day,
no matter what my teachers say.
Even washed behind my ears.
I sure hope Santa reappears.

Oh, Santa is my buddy.
Santa is my pal.
I almost like him half as much
as my pet hamster, Hal.

When my Mom said, “Rise and shine,”
I didn’t even cry or whine.
I gave Hal my garlic bread
and scraped the gum off of my bed.

I heard Santa had a list.
I made sure I wasn’t missed.
Found him on the Internet
and e-mailed what I’d like to get.

Oh, Santa is my buddy.
Santa is my pal.
I almost like him half as much
as my pet hamster, Hal.

Oh, Santa is my buddy.
Santa is my pal.
I almost like him half as much
as my pet hamster, Hal.

Yes, Santa is my buddy.
Santa is my pal.
I almost like him half as much
as my pet hamster, Hal.

I almost like him half as much

as my pet hamster, Hal.

Merry Christmas!

Winter Walk

Winter sky. Blowing the snow around me.
Falling down. Far as the eye can see.
Evergreens bearing the weight of snowfall.
Beauty breaks here on this winter walk.
Oh.

Lovely white covers the rolling landscape.
Winter frost covers each pane of glass.
I can hear laughter as children play and
I feel joy here on this winter walk.
Oh.

Sunlight sparkling on each flake of snow.
Bright the day becomes, though it was gray.
Feel the wonder of the world around us.
See the brilliance of a winter day.

Winter sky. Blowing the snow around me.
Falling down. Far as the eye can see.
Evergreens bearing the weight of snowfall.
Beauty breaks here on this winter walk.
Oh. Oh.

Light A Little Candle

Light a little candle for each night of Hanukkah.

Let the little flames burn bright in your heart.

In the dark of winter, the warm glow of Hanukkah

Melts away the trouble that keeps us apart.

One little candle to light up the darkness.

Two little candles for cheer.

Three little candles for kindness and charity.

The fourth for friends we hold dear.

Light a little candle for each night of Hanukkah.

Let the little flames burn bright in your heart.

In the dark of winter, the warm glow of Hanukkah

Melts away the trouble that keeps us apart.

Five little candles with hope for tomorrow,

Six little candles for love.

Seven little candles for peace and prosperity.

The last from heaven above.

Light a little candle for each night of Hanukkah.

Let the little flames burn bright in your heart.

In the dark of winter, the warm glow of Hanukkah

Melts away the trouble that keeps us apart.

Melts away the trouble that keeps us apart.

Melts away the trouble, melts away the trouble,

Melts away the trouble that keeps us apart!

I Will Sing My Song

I will sing my song, I will make my own music.

I will fill each day with the hope of Spring.

I will lift my voice in a song of praise

And my heart will soar on an eagle’s wing.

And I will sing of truth and beauty, to everyone that I see.

And I will sing a world united, where all may live in peace and harmony.

I will sing my song.

I will sing my song of a brand new tomorrow

When the world will join in the song I sing.

I will lift my voice in a song of praise

And my heart will soar on an eagle’s wing.

And I will sing of truth and beauty, to everyone that I see.

And I will sing a world united, where all may live in peace and harmony.

I will sing my song.

I will sing my song.

I will sing my song!

Life Is Better When You Sing!

What would a celebration be,

what could set imagination free

If there was no music?

No love songs or lullabies,

or stirring anthems filling hearts with pride

If there was no music?

People all around the world share a common bond,

For we know that life is better when you live it with a song.

When you get the chance, sing loud and strong.

And if you hear somebody else, then sing, sing along.

Life is sweeter, life is beautiful, life is better when we sing.

Sing! Sing! Sing!

Try and imagine a holiday,

Or marching in a grand parade

If there was no music.

No such thing as a melody

Or voices singing harmony

If there was no music.

People all around the world share a common bond,

For we know that life is better when you live it with a song.

When you get the chance, sing loud and strong.

And if you hear somebody else, then sing, sing along.

Life is sweeter, life is beautiful, life is better when we sing, a little bit sweeter,

Life is beautiful,

Life is better when you sing.

Sing! Sing! Sing, when you sing!

2nd Grade – New Song – Seasons of Love

Seasons of Love (from Rent)

Five hundred twenty five thousand six hundred minutes,

Five hundred twenty five thousand moments so dear

Five hundred twenty five thousand six hundred minutes,

How do you measure, measure a year?

In daylights, in sunsets, in midnights in cups of coffee.

In inches, in miles, in laughter in strife?

In Five hundred twenty five thousand six hundred minutes,

How do you measure a year in the life?

How about __ love?__________ How about Love?

How about love? measure in love

Seasons of love________seasons of love__________

Five hundred twenty five thousand six hundred minutes,

Five hundred twenty five thousand journeys to plan

Five hundred twenty five thousand six hundred minutes,

How do you measure the life of a woman or a man?

How about __ love?__________ How about Love?

How about love? measure in love

Seasons of love________seasons of love__________

2nd Grade – New Song! For Good

For Good

I’ve heard it said that people come into our lives for a reason.

Bringing something we must learn and we are led to those, who help us most to grow

If we let them, and we help them in return.

Well, I don’t know if I believe that’s true.

But I know I’m who I am today because I knew you.

Like a comet pulled from orbit, as it passes a sun.

Like a stream that meets a boulder, halfway through the wood.

Who can say if I’ve been changed for the better? But because I knew you

I have been changed for good.

It well may be that we will never meet again, in this lifetime.

so let me say before we part, so much of me is made of what I learned from you,

You’ll be with me, like a handprint on my heart.

and now whatever way our stories end,

I know you have rewritten mine, by being my friend

Like a ship blown from his mooring, by a wind off the sea,

like a seed dropped by a sky bird in a distant wood

Who can say if I’ve been changed for the better?

I do believe I have been changed for the better.

and because I knew you… I have been changed. For good.

New Song! 2nd Grade: I Whistle A Happy Tune

I Whistle A Happy Tune

Whenever I feel afraid, I hold my head erect,

and whistle a happy tune, so no one will suspect, I’m afraid

While shivering in my shoes, I strike a careless pose,

and whistle a happy tune, and no one ever knows I’m afraid.

The result of this deception is very strange to tell.

For when I fool the people I fear, I fool myself as well.

I whistle a happy tune, and ev’ry single time,

the happiness in the tune, convinces me that I’m not afraid.

The result of this deception is very strange to tell.

For when I fool the people I fear, I fool myself as well.

I whistle a happy tune, and ev’ry single time,

the happiness in the tune, convinces me that I’m not afraid.

Make believe you’re brave and the trick will take you far.

You may be as brave, as you make believe you are. (whistle)

You may be as brave, as you make believe you are

New Musical Song – Seventy Six Trombones

Seventy-six trombones led the big parade
With a hundred and ten cornets close at hand.
They were followed by rows and rows
of the finest virtuosos,
the cream of ev’ry famous band.

Seventy-six trombones caught the morning sun,.
With a hundred and ten cornets right behind.
There were more than a thousand reeds
Springing up like weeds.
There were horns of every shape and kind.

There were fifty mounted cannon in the battery
Thundering, thundering louder than before
Clarinets of ev’ry size
And trumpeters who improvised
A full octave higher than the score!

Seventy-six trombones hit the counterpoint,
While a hundred and ten cornets blazed away.
To the rhythm of “arch”, “arch”, “arch”,
All the kids began to march
and they’re marching still, right today!

1st Musical Song – Hairspray!

(there is one part this is different than the vocals in the music.  I didn’t think it was appropriate so I changed the word “Spit” to “look” – please have your child practice the word “look” for that part.)
You Can’t Stop The Beat
You can’t stop an avalanche
As it races down the hill
You can try to stop the seasons, girl
But you know you never will
And you can try to stop my dancin’ feet
But I just cannot stand still
‘Cause the world keeps spinning
‘Round and ’round
And my heart’s keeping time
To the speed of sound
I was lost ’til I heard the drums
Then I found my way
‘Cause you can’t stop the beat
Ever since we first saw the light,
you know we found out we can shake it on a Saturday night,
And so I’m gonna shake and shimmy it
with all of my might today,
‘Cause you can’t stop the motion of the ocean
Or the sun in the sky
You can wonder if you wanna, but I never ask why
And if you try to hold me down I’m gonna look in your eye and say
That you can’t stop the beat!
You can’t stop today as it comes speeding down the track.
as it comes speeding down the track.
Child, yesterday is history
and it’s never coming back.
‘Cause tomorrow is a brand new day
And it don’t know white from black
‘Cause the world keeps spinning
‘Round and ’round
And my heart’s keeping time
To the speed of sound
I was lost ’til I heard the drums
Then I found my way
‘Cause you can’t stop the beat
Ever since we first saw the light,
you know we found out we can shake it on a Saturday night,
And so I’m gonna shake and shimmy it
with all of my might today,
‘Cause you can’t stop the motion of the ocean
Or the sun in the sky
You can wonder if you wanna, but I never ask why
And if you try to hold me down I’m gonna look in your eye and say
That you can’t stop the beat!

Holiday Sharing 2018

Hello!  The holidays are quickly approaching!  Below is the music for the LS Holiday Sharing!  Enjoy and HAPPY PRACTICING!

It’s Hanukkah

Hanukkah is here. It’s Hanukkah time.
Ev’ry year we tell the story of the Festival of Lights.
Lighting candles one by one because it’s Hanukkah.

Children are playing, their dreidels will spin. Dancing the horah again and again.
Eight special days the menorah will glow. As we reflect on the days long ago.

Hanukkah is here. It’s Hanukkah time.
Ev’ry year we tell the story of the Festival of Lights.
Lighting candles one by one because it’s Hanukkah.
It’s Hanukkah. Hanukkah. It’s Hanukkah.

2nd Grade – New Year

Hello!  Welcome back to school and the general music classroom!  We have jumped right in with music and have started learning many songs in the music classroom.  We have been actively working on keeping the steady beat of the music and how the steady beat is the heart of the music.  We also have been working on reading rhythms with our rhythm syllables that go along with our note reading.   In preparations for our first singing opportunity in front of an audience, we have started working on the Air Force Song for our Veteran’s Day Program.

We are excited to invite you to our Veteran’s Day Program on the 9th of November at 8:15am in the Lower School Gym.

I have provided the words below for the Air Force Song and the music with singing and the accompaniment for practicing at home. Please let me know if you have any questions!  Thanks!

The Air Force

Off we go into the wild blue yonder,

Climbing high into the sun.

Here they come zooming to meet our thunder

At ’em boys, Give ‘er the gun!

Down we dive, spouting our flame from under

Off with one terrible course!

We live in fame or go down in flame.

Hey! Nothing can stop the U.S. Air Force!
