I Will Sing My Song

I will sing my song, I will make my own music.

I will fill each day with the hope of Spring.

I will lift my voice in a song of praise

And my heart will soar on an eagle’s wing.

And I will sing of truth and beauty, to everyone that I see.

And I will sing a world united, where all may live in peace and harmony.

I will sing my song.

I will sing my song of a brand new tomorrow

When the world will join in the song I sing.

I will lift my voice in a song of praise

And my heart will soar on an eagle’s wing.

And I will sing of truth and beauty, to everyone that I see.

And I will sing a world united, where all may live in peace and harmony.

I will sing my song.

I will sing my song.

I will sing my song!

Life Is Better When You Sing!

What would a celebration be,

what could set imagination free

If there was no music?

No love songs or lullabies,

or stirring anthems filling hearts with pride

If there was no music?

People all around the world share a common bond,

For we know that life is better when you live it with a song.

When you get the chance, sing loud and strong.

And if you hear somebody else, then sing, sing along.

Life is sweeter, life is beautiful, life is better when we sing.

Sing! Sing! Sing!

Try and imagine a holiday,

Or marching in a grand parade

If there was no music.

No such thing as a melody

Or voices singing harmony

If there was no music.

People all around the world share a common bond,

For we know that life is better when you live it with a song.

When you get the chance, sing loud and strong.

And if you hear somebody else, then sing, sing along.

Life is sweeter, life is beautiful, life is better when we sing, a little bit sweeter,

Life is beautiful,

Life is better when you sing.

Sing! Sing! Sing, when you sing!

PreK/Kindergarten

Hello!  Welcome back to school and the general music classroom!  We have jumped right in with music and have started learning many songs in the music classroom.  We have been actively working on keeping the steady beat of the music and how the steady beat is the heart of the music.  In preparations for our first singing opportunity in front of an audience, we have started working on You’re A Grand Old Flag for our Veteran’s Day Program.

We are excited to invite you to our Veteran’s Day Program on the 9th of November at 8:15am in the Lower School Gym.

I have provided the words below for You’re A Grand Old Flag and the music with singing and the accompaniment for practicing at home. Please let me know if you have any questions!  Thanks!

Grand Old Flag

You’re a grand old flag
You’re a high flying flag
And forever in peace may you wave
You’re the emblem of
The land I love
The home of the free and the brave
Every heart beats true
Under red white and blue
Where there’s never a boast or brag
Should all acquaintance be forgot
Keep your eye on the grand old flag
The grand old flag

1st Grade

A little snowflake fell out of the sky.

At first, it floated, then started to fly.

It should have melted the warmer it got.

But I can tell you that snowflake would not!

It was flying! It was flying!

It was flying! Didn’t have a care!

It was flying! It was flying!

It was flying in the air!

The little snowflake decided to dance.

It didn’t know how, but it took a chance.

It skipped and jumped in a rhythmic display.

It danced a waltz and a snowflake ballet!

It was dancing! It was dancing!

It was dancing! Didn’t have a care!

It was dancing! It was dancing!

It was dancing in the air!

The little snowflake decided to sing.

It sang of summer and autumn and spring.

It sang of winter and sounded so proud.

The little snowflake was singing out loud!

It was singing! It was singing!

It was singing! Didn’t have a care!

It was singing! It was singing!

It was singing in the air!

It was flying! It was dancing!

It was singing! Didn’t have a care!

It was flying! It was dancing!

It was singing in the air!

Ev’ry day for eight days children will play!
And while we are playing, the candles of Hanukkah glow!

Shining so brightly, reminding us nightly

—Make New Friends—

Make new friends, but keep the old.
One is silver and the other gold.
Silver shines and gold does, too.
Keep them both, they will shine for you.

—Where Can We Find Peace?—

Where can we find peace? Where can we find love?
In the eyes of others, in the skies above.
Where can we find hope? Where can we find joy?
In the smiles of a stranger, in the face of a girl and boy.
Peace, love, hope and joy.
Reach out your heart and touch someone.
Peace, love, hope and joy.
These are the things that make us one.
Where can we find peace? Where can we find love?
In the world around us. One the wings of a dove.
Where can we find hope? Where can we find joy?
In the arms of a mother of a newborn girl or boy.
Peace, love, hope and joy.
Reach out your heart and touch someone.
Peace, love, hope and joy.
These are the things that make us one.

3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade

—With A Song—

We come from many places. We come with many dreams.
We come with many faces. We’re different, so it seems.
But when we sing together, we’re singing with one voice.
Yes, when we sing together, we will rejoice.
With a song, we are united.
With a song, we are one.
With a song, we’re joined together.
With a song, we’ve only just begun.
Our lives are filled with music. Our hearts are filled with song.
Ah_________ united, together we are strong.
The melody is moving.  The harmony is bright.
And, when we sing together, we sing with joy, we sing with might.
With a song, we are united.
With a song, we are one.
With a song, we’re joined together.
With a song, we’ve only just begun.  We’ve just begun. (repeat)
With a song, we’ve only just begun.
We’ve just begun. We’ve just begun. With a song.

Off we go into the wild blue yonder,
Climbing high into the sun;
Here they come zooming to meet our thunder,
At ’em boys, Give ‘er the gun! (Give ‘er the gun now!)
Down we dive, spouting our flame from under,
Off on one terrible course!
We live in fame or go down in flame. Hey!
Nothing’ll stop the U.S. Air Force!

Second Grade –

Over hill
Over dale
We will hit the dusty trail
And those caissons go rolling along
In and out
Hear them shout
Countermarch
And right about
And those caissons go rolling along
Then it’s Hi! Hi! Hee!
In the field artillery
Sound off your numbers
Loud and strong
For where’er you go
You will always know
That the caissons are rolling along

Character Tree Song and Lyrics

The Character Tree Song

INTRODUCTION

Out in the garden by my classroom door.

Seeds were planted when I was barely four.

Slowly growing came a big strong tree,

and on each branch grew messages for me.

Then my teachers said: “Let’s find out what they could be!”

CHORUS

Under the shelter of our Character Tree,

Our minds are opened to the traits we see.

I learn all together with my school family,

By following the path that it’s teaching me.

VERSES

Number One…Get it done…

You can count on me cause that’s RE-SPON-SI-BI-LI-TY,

Number Two…Good for you….

DE-DI-CA-TION, never give up will see you through.

Number threeRE-SPECT from me….

I will care for who you are and how you feel and what you see.

Number Four ….SPI-RIT galore (GO TEAM!).

I’ll be on your team and cheer you that’s for sure.

Number Five … I will strive…

to show COM-PAS-SION, I will help you out

when you feel down.

Number Six…This will stick…

HONOR tells the truth and teaches us to trust.

There is one we haven’t done.

All the others on this one depend and firmly rest.

Standing strong we march along,

It is COUR-AGE that we bravely build upon.

CHORUS

Under the shelter of our Character Tree,

Our minds are opened to the traits we see.

I learn all together with my school family,

By following the path that it’s teaching me.

Wow!  This 1st semester of school is FLYING by as we are already starting to prepare our students for the upcoming holiday sharing ?  Below you will find the music that each grade level will be singing for the concert and music to practice the songs.  Thanks!

It’s Santa Again!

See the rein-deer taking flight_________
On a clear De-cem-ber night.
Can you see him flash-ing by,
Out a-cross the win-ter sky?
You’ll miss him if you blink your eye: it’s San-ta a-gain!

Stashed be-hind him ‘way in back________
I see his e-nor-mous pack.
I have heard it’s filled with toys,
For all the girls and all the boys.
Hush now, don’t you make a noise: it’s San-ta a-gain!

Snowflake Carol

Still, still, still, hear the sound of the fall-ing snow,
For all is hushed, the world is sleeping,
Clouds a-cross the sky are creep-ing,
Still, still, still, hear the sound of the fall-ing snow.

Twin-kle, twin-kle, lit-tle, star, hid-den by the clouds you are.
When the snow has ceased to fall,
You’ll be twin-kling af-ter all,
Up a-bove the world so high, like a snow-flake in the sky.

Sleep, sleep, sleep, while the world is dressed in white.
The night is peace-ful all around you,
close your eyes, let sleep sur-round you.
Sleep, sleep, sleep, while the world is dressed in white.

Twin-kle, twin-kle, lit-tle star, hid-den by the clouds you are.
When the snow has ceased to fall, you’ll be twin-kling af-ter all,
Up a-bove the world so high, just like a snow-flake in the sky.
