New Song! 2nd Grade: I Whistle A Happy Tune

I Whistle A Happy Tune

Whenever I feel afraid, I hold my head erect,

and whistle a happy tune, so no one will suspect, I’m afraid

While shivering in my shoes, I strike a careless pose,

and whistle a happy tune, and no one ever knows I’m afraid.

The result of this deception is very strange to tell.

For when I fool the people I fear, I fool myself as well.

I whistle a happy tune, and ev’ry single time,

the happiness in the tune, convinces me that I’m not afraid.

The result of this deception is very strange to tell.

For when I fool the people I fear, I fool myself as well.

I whistle a happy tune, and ev’ry single time,

the happiness in the tune, convinces me that I’m not afraid.

Make believe you’re brave and the trick will take you far.

You may be as brave, as you make believe you are. (whistle)

PreK/Kindergarten

Hello!  Welcome back to school and the general music classroom!  We have jumped right in with music and have started learning many songs in the music classroom.  We have been actively working on keeping the steady beat of the music and how the steady beat is the heart of the music.  In preparations for our first singing opportunity in front of an audience, we have started working on You’re A Grand Old Flag for our Veteran’s Day Program.

We are excited to invite you to our Veteran’s Day Program on the 9th of November at 8:15am in the Lower School Gym.

I have provided the words below for You’re A Grand Old Flag and the music with singing and the accompaniment for practicing at home. Please let me know if you have any questions!  Thanks!

Grand Old Flag

You’re a grand old flag
You’re a high flying flag
And forever in peace may you wave
You’re the emblem of
The land I love
The home of the free and the brave
Every heart beats true
Under red white and blue
Where there’s never a boast or brag
Should all acquaintance be forgot
Keep your eye on the grand old flag
The grand old flag

Song of the River

Can you hear the song of the river, the voice of the gentle stream?
It sings as it spills and slumbers, then it flows swift and sure to the sea.
My song is like the river, growing stronger as years flow by.
And time makes bother more lovely, the river’s song and mine.
Can you hear the song of the river, singing on when the storm clouds roll?
Though wind and rain pass over stronger still, the river flows.
My song is like the river running sure under stormy skies.
And the rain makes both more lovely, the river’s song and mine.
(Descant) –
Come here the river when storm clouds roll,
though rains pass over, still, the river flows.
Both grow more lovely, the river’s song and mine.
Both grow more lovely, the river’s song and mine.

And the rain makes moth more lovely the river’s song and mine.

Under the Sea – 2nd Grade

Under The Sea
The seaweed is always greener in somebody else’s lake.
You dream about going up there, but that is a big mistake.
Just look at the world around you, right here on the ocean floor.
Such wonderful things surround you, what more is you lookin’ for?
Under the sea, under the sea
darlin’ it’s better down where it’s wetter, take it from me.
Up on the shore they work all day.  Out in the sun they slave away,
while we devotin’ full time to floatin’ under the sea.
Down here all the fish is happy, as off through the waves they roll.
The fish on the land ain’t happy. They sad ’cause they in the bowl.
But fish in the bowl is lucky, they in for a worser fate.
One day when the boss get hungry, guess who gon’ be on the plate?
Under the sea, under the sea
nobody beat us, fry us and eat us in fricasee.
We what the land folks love to cook.
Under the sea we off the hook. We got no troubles,
life is the bubbles, under the sea.

You Can Fly! You Can Fly! You Can Fly!
Think of a wonderful thought, any merry little thought.
Think of Christmas, think of snow.
Think of sleigh bells, off you go, like reindeer in the sky!
You can fly! You can fly! You can fly!

Think of the happiest things; It’s the same as having wings.
Take the path that moonbeams make.
If the moon is still awake, you’ll see him wink his eye!
You can fly! You can fly! You can fly!

Up you go, with a heigh and how, to the stars beyond the blue.
There’s a Neverland waiting for you,
where all your happy dreams come true.
Ev’ry dream that you dream’ll come true.

When there’s a smile in your heart, there’s not better time to start.
Think of all the joy you’ll find when you leave the world behind,
and bid your cares goodbye.
You can fly, You can fly! You can fly! You can fly! You can fly!

Hello!  It’s that time of year again to start learning and rehearsing the music for Christmas and Lower School Choir.  Have a Jingle Jangle time practicing these cheerful tunes!

Christmas Time Is Here

Christ-mas time is here; hap-pi-ness and cheer;

Fun for all that chil-dren call their fa-v’rite time of year.

Snow-flakes in the air; car-ols ev-’ry-where;

Olden times and an-cient rhymes of love, and dreams to share.

Sleigh-bells in the air; beau-ty ev-’ry-where;

yule-tide by the fire-side, and joy-ful mem-’ries there.

Christ-mas time is here; fam’lies draw-ing near.

Oh, that we could al-ways see such spir-it through the year.

Sleigh-bells in the air; beau-ty ev-’ry-where;

yule-tide by the fire-side, and joy-ful mem-’ries there.

Christ-mas time is here; fam’lies draw-ing near.

Oh, that we could al-ways see such spir-it through the year.

Oh, that we could al-ways see such spir-it shine through Christ-mas, Christ-mas Christ-mas,

Christ-mas time is here.

It’s Time To Deck The Halls

This is De-cem-ber; just watch the snow-flakes fall.

Now is the sea-son, the best time of them all.

Gath-er ‘round and sing with us the Yule’tide ca-rols we re-call.

Come on, get read-y; it’s time to deck the hall!

Deck the hall with boughs of hol-ly, Fa la la la la, la la la la.

Tis the sea-son to be jol-ly, Fa la la la la, la la la la.

Don we now our gay ap-par-el, Fa la la, la la la, la la la.

Troll the an-cient Yule-tide ca-rol, Fa la la la la, la la la la.

It’s time to deck the hall!  Fa la la la la!
