Science Olympiad Club is a great opportunity for students interested in science to explore different subjects while preparing for the end of year tournament. The events include everything from a chemistry lab to building marshmallow catapults to astronomy. At the tournament, our students have the chance to demonstrate what they have learned and prepared over the past few months and compete for medals against other students from schools across Wake County.

Each student can compete in one, two, or three events, with one event in each competition time period. Most events have students working in pairs. Our team can have up to 18 students. If more than 18 students sign up we will run preliminary competitions here at Ravenscroft to determine the makeup of the final team.
The Science Olympiad tournament requires quite a bit of preparation. To be truly competitive, science olympians will need parent support at home- helping them study for test events, or by assisting students in acquiring materials for their building event models. Additionally, parents with expertise relevant to a particular event are invited to become an assistant coach. You would need to be available from 3:30-4:30 on the dates when that period’s events meet. We also ask that parents help at our meetings every club Tuesday by donating snacks. There will be a SignUp Genius provided when we get closer to club start up.
