Veteran’s Day 2015

4th and 5th grade students will be performing and singing in the Ravenscroft Veteran’s Day Program. We have been working hard on two lovely pieces, “Pride of America” and “To Those Who Serve.”

I have posted the lyrics and recording  for “To Those Who Serve” below so that students can practice at their convenience.

To Those Who Serve Lyrics

My country ‘tis of thee,

Sweet land of liberty,

to thee we sing, to thee we sing!

To those who serve,

who serve the free,

those who stand proud and tall and serve us all unselfishly.

With heart and soul they’ve answered freedom’s call.

To those who serve, who serve us all.

From this great land

our heroes hail,

putting their hopes and dreams on hold so freedom can prevail.

They come from north from south, from east, and west.

They are the bravest and the best!

How can we ever thank them?

Mere words would never do.

All those who serve and help preserve

our grand red, white, and blue!

To those who serve,

put fear aside,

upholding all that we hold near and dear,

they’ve lived and died.

They taught us all what truth and strength should be.

To those who serve courageously.

How can we ever thank them

Mere words would never do.

Our heroes brave who serve to save

our grand red, white, and blue…red, white, and blue.

To those who serve,

who serve the free,

those who stand proud and tall and serve us all unselfishly.

With heart and soul they’ve answered freedom’s call.

To those who serve, to those who serve, to those who serve, who serve us all!

To those who serve, to those who serve, to thee we sing!

Drama Troupe for 9/30/15

Hello there!

Drama Troupe will resume this coming Wednesday!

We will finish learning  our pop song component, “Boom, Clap” by Charlie XCX, and the students seem to really enjoy it! Auditions for solos will be held soon. The altered lyrics for the song are posted below, and the arrangement is extremely close to the original.  I have a preview link to a recording  below for your child to use for practice if they so choose to, but if you would like to find the original on YouTube, that is fine too.

Boom! Boom! Boom! Clap! You’re picture perfect blue
Sunbathing on the moon
Stars shining as your bones illuminateFirst kiss just like it was
Under your influence
You take me over you’re the magic in my brain
This must be loveBoom! Clap!
The sound of my heart
The beat goes on and on and on and on and
Boom! Clap!
You make me feel good
Come up to me, come up to me now
Boom! Clap!
The sound of my heart
The beat goes on and on and on and on and
Boom! Clap!
You make me feel good
Come up to me, come up to me now

No silver or no gold
Could dress me up so good
You’re the glitter in the darkness of my world

Just tell me what to do
I’ll fall right into you
Going under cast a spell just say the word
I feel your love

Boom! Clap!
The sound of my heart
The beat goes on and on and on and on and
Boom! Clap!
You make me feel good
Come up to me, come up to me now
Boom! Clap!
The sound of my heart
The beat goes on and on and on and on and
Boom! Clap!
You make me feel good
Come up to me, come up to me now

You are the light and I will follow
You let me lose my shadow
You are the sun, the glowing halo
And you keep burning me up with all your love, uh

Boom! Clap!
The sound of my heart
The beat goes on and on and on and on and
Boom! Clap!
You make me feel good
Come up to me, come up to me now
Boom! Clap!
The sound of my heart
The beat goes on and on and on and on and
Boom! Clap!
You make me feel good
Come up to me, come up to me now
Boom! Clap!
The sound of my heart
The beat goes on and on and on and on and
Boom! Clap!
You make me feel good
Come up to me, come up to me now
Boom! Clap!
The sound of my heart
The beat goes on and on and on and on and
Boom! Clap!
You make me feel good
Come up to me, come up to me now
