Character Tree Traits in Action
Fifth grade students Zion Evans and Grace Vande Berg demonstrated their COURAGE when they stood up in front of the whole Lower School to recite a portion of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s famous I Have a Dream Speech at a recent Tree Talk. They both delivered their parts with passion, and we were all very impressed! Way to go, Zion and Grace!
Several faculty and staff members also participated in our Tree Talk that celebrated the life of Martin Luther King Jr. and how he embodied our Character Tree Traits. Dr. Harper, Mrs. DuBose, Mrs. Riggs, Mrs. Thomas, Mrs. Kraemer, Mr. Knox, Mrs. Dancy-Jones, Mrs. King, Mrs. Bolin, Mrs. Hitchcock, Mrs. Fordham, Mrs. Davis, Mrs. Stapleton, and Mrs. Mark showed their SPIRIT and DEDICATION to making a difference in the lives of young children as they shared their stories with all of us.
As many of you know, sickness has been all over Lower School. Many students and faculty members have showed their COMPASSION for others by helping them get to the nurse, organizing their missed work for them, giving them tissues or cough drops, or even just giving them a hug. I came across this one very special letter from Mrs. Ausbon’s class that I thought was an excellent example of students showing they care. Kindergarten Compassion Letter
